Alternatives To All Natural Organic Skin Care Products

By Nelda Powers

Cutting out chemicals and adding more natural, unprocessed products is a wonderful thing to do for your lifestyle. Many people make a point to use only all natural organic skin care products, buy only hormone-free meat and eggs, and use cleaning agents that are free of harsh chemicals.

While these are all good things to do, they require knowledge, time, and often money that not everyone has. When you make the commitment to a more simple lifestyle, it may take some time to work up to these things. However, even if you cannot afford fancy and expensive options, there are things you can do to begin taking steps toward a healthier lifestyle.

One of the greatest ways to start is by eating only real food. The average diet includes far to many processed foods. These are many small changes that can be made to buy more whole food ingredients. You may even find that this saves money rather than increasing your grocery bill.

1. Avoid processed meats. Although you may not be able to always buy hormone-free, free range meat, you can steer clear of the processed meat options in the frozen food isle. Just buy chicken, beef, and pork that is package without all the extra processing. Another idea is to eat less meat, and buy the hormone-free options when you do purchase it, so the cost balances out.

2. Sweets (Cakes, cookies, etc.). Walk right past the snack cakes and packaged cookies that usually occupy an entire aisle of the grocery store. There are far too many preservatives and chemicals, and these bakes goods are usually a lot higher in calories and fat than they need to be. Try baking your own sweets. Your house will smell amazing, and you will save money as well as being healthier.

3. Bread. Whole wheat bread, muffins, tortillas, and bagels are always better options than their white counterparts, which are made from bleached flour. Even some "whole grain" breads have bleached flour as their main ingredient. Choose breads labled "100% whole wheat, " or make your own bread from scratch.

Cleaning agents and beauty products are another area in which you can change the things you use. These changes will not necessarily increase your expenses. Sometimes you can use familiar household staples in new ways. One example of this is using vinegar for cleaning. You can use this chemical-free, inexpensive option to clean your counters, mop your floor, and remove the residue from your coffee maker. It won't leave a strong smell, either. An example of a household ingredient that can be used as a beauty product is olive oil, which can moisturize your hair and skin.

There is no need to be discouraged if you cannot afford to purchase all natural organic skin care products or fancy expensive foods. You can start small, one step at a time. There may be programs such as government food assistance that can help to increase your food purchasing power. Also, look for places where you can buy food and other things wholesale to decrease the expense. You don't have to go broke to go natural!
