How To Appreciate The Great Taste Of Acai Berries

Until recently, not a lot was known about acai berries. People knew that they were from the Amazon, and that the natives consumed the fruit. We also knew that the berry is a purple fruit that is highly nutritious. These days, the fruit has been used by celebrities as a weight loss aid.

The fruit first came to prominence when it was used in tablet form as a weight loss aid. The product has many different uses other than as a pill. It can be used in whole form or juiced to create a refreshing drink. However, the tablet form is still one of the most poplar, this is because the fruit goes off quickly after harvesting so it needs to be processed quickly.

The taste has been likened to a what you would get if you mixed berries with chocolate. When juiced this might make for an interesting salad dressing, or it can even be added whole to a salad. However, as the liquid form is easiest to get hold of, it's probably easier to use as a sauce for a sweet dessert such as cheesecakes or on fruit salads.

A great way to introduce the taste of the berry to kids is by adding them to milk. Aside from milkshakes, there's the added option of putting them in sorbets or even ice cream. You can experiment with the fruit and use it in the same way that cranberries are used for cooking. Maybe, as with cranberries, they can be added to pork dishes or turkey or chicken. Many have reported that marinating the meat in the juice really enhances the flavor.

Adults can use the fruit in their drinks. Cocktails that call for fruit can easily have these added instead of, say, blackberries or raspberries. You'll probably want to adjust the measures until you get the hang of it. For a healthier drink, adding the juice to a little water creates a refreshing beverage.

Those who like a liquid breakfast may want to freshen it up a little by adding some berries to their morning coffee. These, of course, can be added in the form of juice from a carton, or liquidized from fresh. Adjust the amount that is added to the beverage depending on how you like the taste. Sugar can also be added if it isn't sweet enough.

Those health freaks that like to know what is in everything they eat, may be pleased to know that this fruit is highly nutritious. Among the various minerals and B-vitamins are things like copper and calcium. The juice a good way for health-conscious people to start the day, either on its own or alongside the usual thing you eat in the morning.

Perhaps the most prevalent use of acai berries is in tablet form. Some have suggested that these are aids to weight loss and to other ailments such as diabetes, but nothing concrete is yet known about these claims. What is fairly certain is that by having the berry as part of your diet it can provide you with extra nutrition and energy.
